Driving on Provincial Road 391
("Tom Cochrane’s Life Is a Highway")
Many travelers reach Lynn Lake by driving Provincial Road 391 "Life Is A Highway", formally named after Tom Cochrane's famous song, Life Is A Highway - Tom lived in Lynn Lake as a child. It is the only road into Lynn Lake if driving from the south - its a very picturesque drive, but also very remote.
Before beginning your trip north, check current road conditions through the Government of Manitoba Highway Information Service:
Dial: 511
Outside Manitoba: (877) 627-6237
It is recommended that you check road conditions before leaving Thompson, as there is limited cell service for the first 45 minutes of driving, and no cell service after that including Lynn Lake (use your phone's wifi capabilities in town).
